SIMRAT SAMRA

GRADUATE STUDENT

Ayla is a graduate student affiliate working with Dr. Lloyd. Her work focuses on gender diversity, social cognition, and social bias. In her research, she has examined stereotypes of gender and how contextual cues shape implicit and explicit bias. Ayla has presented her work at SPSP and has received competitive funding, including a Student Grant Competition award and a Graduate Education Doctoral Fellowship for Inclusive Engagement. Her recent publications address gender diverse perspectives to physiological stimuli and systemic approaches to understand implicit bias. 

ALYA WINEGAR

GRADUATE STUDENT AFFILIATE

Simrat is the Program Coordinator for CAPE as a graduate research affiliate. Her focus is on social cognition, prejudice, and evaluation processes. Her research looks at how race typicality and prejudice suppression influence negative evaluations, with work presented at the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. Simrat has received multiple honors recognizing her teaching, service, and research, including the Outstanding Teaching Award, Outstanding Service Award, a CAHSS Doctoral Fellowship for Inclusive Engagement, and a Psi Chi Summer Research Grant.

Paige Lloyd is an Assistant Professor in the Psychology Department. She earned her Ph.D. from Miami University and completed her undergraduate degree at Wittenberg University. Her research focuses on how we form impressions of others and how those perceptions contribute to social inequality and discrimination. In her lab, Dr. Lloyd collaborates closely with undergraduate and graduate students on student-led research projects examining inequality in areas such as health care, policing, criminal justice, and education. She is also a dedicated educator who is especially passionate about introducing students to psychology through courses like Foundations of Psychology and helping them take an active role in scientific research through Research Methods in Psychology.
